Who We Are
Hyde Hope Haven of North Carolina is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening individuals, families, and communities through advocacy, resource navigation, volunteerism, education, and practical assistance.
We believe people facing difficult circumstances deserve more than a list of phone numbers or another closed door. They deserve to be heard, treated with dignity, given accurate information, and connected with meaningful support.
Through direct advocacy, community partnerships, volunteer service, education, and resource navigation, Hyde Hope Haven works alongside individuals and families as they seek answers, overcome barriers, and move toward greater stability
Our work is rooted in a simple belief:
Hope grows when people know they do not have to face difficult situations alone.
Our Mission
Hyde Hope Haven of North Carolina exists to stand beside individuals and families when systems, circumstances, or crises leave them without answers or support.
Our mission is to advocate boldly, connect people with meaningful resources, strengthen families, promote accountability, mobilize community support, and provide practical assistance that turns uncertainty into action and hardship into hope.
We believe every person deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, given honest information, and empowered to advocate for themselves and their family. Through advocacy, education, volunteerism, resource navigation, and direct community support, we work to remove barriers, demand accountability where it is needed, and help build stronger families and stronger communities.
We don't simply point people toward help. We walk beside them as they find their way forward.
Our Vision
We envision stronger communities where individuals and families are heard, supported, empowered, and never left to navigate difficult circumstances alone.
Hyde Hope Haven of North Carolina seeks to build a future where families have meaningful access to resources, vulnerable people have advocates willing to stand beside them, public systems operate with transparency and accountability, and neighbors come together to care for one another.
Our vision is a community where hope leads to action, advocacy creates change, and people have the support and opportunity they need to build safer, stronger, and more stable lives.
Stronger people. Stronger families. Stronger communities.

Service — We believe meaningful change begins with a willingness to show up, help, and serve others.
Hyde Hope Haven of North Carolina was founded by Teresa Craig; a Hyde County community advocate whose passion for helping families grew from both personal experience and years of walking alongside people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Teresa understands what it means to face circumstances that cannot be solved with a simple referral, a phone number, or instructions to “call someone else.” Her own life has included profound loss, difficult family experiences, and firsthand experience navigating complicated systems where answers are not always easy to find and where individuals can quickly feel unheard or powerless.
Those experiences did not create a desire simply to talk about what should change. They created a determination to show up and do something about it.
Through community advocacy, Teresa began helping individuals and families organize records, locate resources, understand complicated processes, prepare for meetings, communicate with agencies, document concerns, and find appropriate next steps. Again and again, she encountered people who did not necessarily need someone to take over their lives—they needed someone willing to stand beside them while they found their voice and their way forward.
That work became the foundation for Hyde Hope Haven.
Teresa founded HHH on the belief that compassion and accountability belong together. Families deserve support, vulnerable individuals deserve protection, public systems should operate transparently and fairly, and organizations entrusted with helping people should be accountable to the communities they serve.
Her vision for Hyde Hope Haven extends beyond advocacy. She believes strong communities are built when neighbors help neighbors—whether that means helping a family navigate a crisis, connecting someone with food or utility assistance, mowing a yard for a person who physically cannot do it, helping someone organize documents before an important meeting, or simply refusing to let someone face an overwhelming situation alone.
For Teresa, Hyde Hope Haven is ultimately about turning compassion into action:
Listen when people feel unheard.
Stand beside them when they feel alone.
Seek answers when the path is unclear.
Speak up when accountability is needed.
And whenever possible, leave people with more hope than they had when they arrived.
That's the heart behind Hyde Hope Haven of North Carolina.
